Andy Lawson
BIOGRAPHY.
Andy Lawson is an artist working across various mediums, including; drawing, photography, painting, collecting and installation.
He was born in Cornwall but spent his formative years in Plymouth. After twenty years living in London, he spent some time in Mid-West France before returning to Cornwall where he has lived for the past seven years.
He has a first-class Honours degree in Fine Art from London Guildhall University (2000), and a Master’s degree from Wimbledon College of Art (UAL) (2010). He was a senior lecturer at (LMU) London Metropolitan University for fifteen years (2003-2017) where – amongst other roles - he taught on drawing and photography modules on the BA Fine Art course.
Group exhibitions include the ‘East End Archive’, (photography/ 2014), The Bank Gallery, (LMU), ‘Being There’, A – Side B-Side Gallery, London, (installation/ 2013); he has previously had solo exhibitions at Unit 2, LMU, and St Paul’s Art Space, London. In 2010 he was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize.
He has a studio in North Cornwall where, for the past five years, he has been working on ‘Chinese Whispers’, an ongoing series of process/ abstract paintings; alongside landscape and social documentary photography projects.

2001 - 2005 Primary School Learning Mentor, Calverton Primary School, East London.
2001 - 2008 development and delivery of educational workshops for a variety of galleries including Serpentine Gallery and St Paul’s Art Space, London.
Andy has exhibited both nationally and internationally.
